Charles A. Reavey, age 99, of Montague, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Whitehall. He was born April 21, 1918 in Montague, the son of James Reavey and Anne (Ohrenberger) Reavey. He was raised in Montague and moved to Rothbury at a young age. Charles married Mildred Teichthesen on July 4, 1939. They lived in Rothbury until 1955 when they moved to Shelby.
He was employed at Teledyne Continental until his retirement in 1978. He also farmed. He moved back to Montague in 1984. Charles had been a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Rothbury and was currently a member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague. Mildred preceded him in death on March 14, 2009. He enjoyed playing cards and loved to dance.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Redding, Mary Keck (and John Lellos), James (Janet) Reavey, Margaret Law, Linda (Brian) Irey, and Cinda Reavey; his sister, Nina (John) Stokes; many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deloris Hasty; son, Tom Reavey; brothers, Dan, Tom, Jim and Joe Reavey; and sisters, Kate Stier, Helen Ernst, and Mary Bloomquist.
The Rosary will be recited Friday, January 12th, 5:30 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. Visitation will follow from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13th, 11 am at St. James Catholic Church in Montague. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Montague in the spring.
