Charles R. LaFever

Charles R. LaFever, age 84, of Montague,  passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at home.  He was born August 31, 1933 in Claybanks Township, Oceana County to Glendon and Esther (Pontius) LaFever.

He was raised in Claybanks and was a life resident of the Montague area.  He married Sandy L. Whiting on November 3, 1962.  Charlie was a heavy equipment operator for Harold Osborne, Inc. for over fifty years.  He also farmed, growing hay and corn and raising cattle and pigs.  He loved to rebuild tractors and enjoyed tractor pulls and old engine shows.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children,  Nick LaFever, Jim (Barb) LaFever, and Tammy (Brian) Dahlstrom; ten grandchildren; brothers, Martin LaFever and Glen (Pat) LaFever; and sisters, Margaret Ann Johnson and Judy Soper.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, David LaFever; and his brother, Hank LaFever, Sr.  

Visitation is Tuesday, November 7th, 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 8th, 1 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Russ Damm officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague.
