Vestel Taylor “Red” Wesley, 88, of Muskegon, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021. He was born June 15, 1933, in Ansel, Kentucky, the son of Lincoln and Bannie Wesley.
Red proudly served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. The family would take road trips in the summer to visit his parents in Kentucky, enjoying road games and singing in the car as they traveled. Red and his wife, Mary, enjoyed traveling in their RV, and camping with their friends and family. Red loved life and his family, and will be sorely missed.
Red is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Wesley; children; Helen VanBrocklin, Karen (Tom) Treml, Roy (Susan) Wesley, Richard (Lisa) Wesley, William (Kristine) Wesley, and Paul (Teresa) Wesley; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Eunice (Pat) Wesley.
Red was preceded in death by: his parents; infant daughter, Janet Mary Wesley; son, Andrew George Wesley; son-in-law, Eber VanBrocklin; granddaughter, Alicia Wesley; grandson, Adam Wesley; and five siblings.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 North Michigan Avenue, Shelby, MI 49455. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12:00 PM, until time of services at the funeral home.
