Susan Mineau Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Mixter-Mineau, 55, of Whitehall, passed away after a 36 year battle with Mulitiple Sclerosis, February 18, 2023. She was born July 4, 1967, the daughter of Alice Artibee and Richard Mixter.

Susan was born on Independence Day and believed for years that the parades for the holiday were just for her. She lived her early years in the Upper Peninsula, graduating from Negaunee High School in 1985.  Her vibrant personality led her to become a flight attendant for Simmons Airlines, but her diagnoses of MS grounded her early in her career.  Susan’s winning smile was well known at several care facilities that tended to her as her health declined. Her family wishes to especially thank SKLD in Whitehall where they treated her like extended family. Aunts, uncles, and her mother often had sing-alongs with Susan, which were often attended by other patients.

Susan is survived by: her parents, five brothers, a sister, and six step-brothers and sisters.

Susan will be interred at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Montague, but will reside in Heaven where her strong Catholic faith has always fortified the difficult times she endured on Earth.

The Harris Funeral Home, in Shelby, is handling arrangements.
