Ruth Doris Alvesteffer, 88, of Hart, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023. She was born January 13, 1935, the daughter of Russell and Leola (Baxter) Baron.

Ruth’s family was her life, she raised her children, helped raise many of her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. Throughout her life she had many jobs such as driving school buses, working in a canning factory, and running a fruit and dairy farm. Ruth loved feeding the birds, playing with her grandkids, and taking care of her yard and flowers; she continued to care for her yard and flowers until the very end.

Ruth is survived by: her children, Rosemary (Ron) Smith, Danny (Kathy) Alvesteffer, Sandy (Kirk) Payne, Kenneth (Abi) Alvesteffer, Michelle (Brian) Holladay, and Jeremy (Barbie) Alvesteffer; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Budde; sisters-in-law, Jean Baron and Phyllis Alvesteffer; and brother-in-law, Leon (Laura) Alvesteffer.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Jerome Alvesteffer; son, Dale Robert Alvesteffer; and grandson, Ronald Smith Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 2380 W. Jackson Rd, Hart, MI 49420 with Rev. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. A luncheon will follow at St. Joseph’s Faith Formation Center, 2349 W. Jackson Rd, Hart, MI 49420.
