Ronald Lowell Cooper, 81, of Shelby, left this earth to spend eternity in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Ronald was born February 28, 1939 in Muskegon to Howard Cooper and Florine (Downey) Cooper.
Ronald lived most of his life in Michigan, but also resided in Tucson, Arizona from 1978 to 1997. Ronald married Betty Blanchette November 30th, 1957 and they shared an evangelistic ministry for most of their life together. In their earlier years they formed a band called “Latter Rain” and later on they traveled to many places and touched many lives through a tent ministry which also took them into Mexico many times where they shared the gospel of Jesus Christ and His power to transform lives.
When Ron’s wife, Betty suffered a brain aneurysm in 2017, Ron never left Betty’s side and took care of his beloved until her death in 2018. After a time of grieving had passed, Ron resumed his ministry of music and worship and touched many more lives in various churches and his local community center, “The Ladder”.
Ronald is survived by his children, Diana Cooper of North Muskegon, Carrie Malia of Palm Desert, California, Bradley Cooper of Muskegon and Kim (Brian) Crowder of Shelby; grandchildren, David Stead, Katherine Waldher, Rachel (Caylen) Staub, Sarah Epplett, Brianna, Nina and Levi Cooper, Jennifer (Dave) Jacobs, Christian Cooper, Maegan (Mitch) Moore, Matthew (Kayla) Crowder, Joshua Crowder, Alex Crowder, Tim Holcomb and Nancy Holcomb; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brother, Greg Cooper; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Brian Cooper; parents, Howard and Florine Cooper; brothers, Bill and Leland Cooper; and granddaughter, Melisa Witt.
Ron was deeply loved by his children and adored by his grandchildren. All who knew Ron will never forget him and will always remember him with great love and affection.
Visitation is Saturday, January 23rd, 2-4 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The funeral service for Mr. Cooper will be held Sunday, January 24th, 3 pm at Christ The Rock Church, 6985 Indian Bay Road, Montague with refreshments to follow. Interment will be Friday, May 28th, 11 am at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby.
