Robert "Rob" Thomas Veld, 52, of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born February 11, 1974, in Shelby, the son of Thomas Veld and Carol VanderSluys.
Rob was a Journeyman Electrician and lived throughout the country working his trade. However, his heart never strayed from Oceana County. Rob was born into a large family of five siblings but in his heart his family extended to his many childhood lifelong friends. Rob had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved cooking for people, hosting gatherings, taking part in his annual friend’s get together and debating anyone willing to partake
Rob is survived by: his mother, Carol VanderSluys; siblings, Elizabeth(John) Klooster, Virginia Rook (Rory Foley), Wilson Rook, Jr., Katy (Joe) Rodriguez, Karen (Donnie) Shafer; nieces and nephews, Heather Ely, Bethany Hill (Jonathan Gray), Joe (Kristin) Klooser, John (Staci) Klooster, Racheal (Eric) Carbalido, Lauren Foley, Brendan Foley, Wilson Rook III, Austin (Kristen) Rook, Jonathan Rook, Ana Rodriguez, Alex (Mike) Johnson, Abby Rodriguez, Tyler Jeffery and Joshua Jeffery; 22 great nieces and nephews.
Rob was preceded in death by: his father, Thomas Veld; step-mother, Alma Darling, and his canine brother, Pepper.

A celebration of Rob’s life will be held July 11, 2026, at the Stony Lake Park.
