Richard “Dick” Wayne Bronkema Sr., 80, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born April 22, 1944, in Reed City, Michigan, the son of John and Henrietta (Newenhouse) Bronkema.
Dick worked at Kurdziel Iron Industry. He loved to hunt, earning the nickname “Dead Eye Dick”. In his later years he fell in love with bowling, cornhole and camping.
Dick is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Sharon; children, Rich (Cindy) Bronkema Jr., Dawn (Mark) Karnitz; and Kenneth (Carolina) Bronkema; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl (Mary) Bronkema, William (Linda) Bronkema, Arthur (Candice) Bronkema, Steven (Mary) Bronkema, Larry (Shelley) Bronkema, John (Kristine) Bronkema; sister, Mary (Dennis) Bronkema.
Dick was preceded in death by: his brothers, Garald and Lester; sisters, Sheila and Ruth Ann; infant grandson, Cody Bronkema.
Dick was always a hard worker and his greatest joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 pm, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455. The family will receive friends from 3 pm until the start of services Friday, January 3, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the Masonic Lodge, 2661 Oceana Drive, Hart, Michigan 49420.
