Richard Owen McCann, 66, of Hart, reunited with the love of his life in Heaven, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 18, 1957, in Hart, the son of Ollie Castle and Charlotte (Pulsipher) McCann.

Richard married his soulmate, Juanita Salazar, on June 1, 1979, and together they had two kids, Alisha Kay (McCann) Anderson and Adam Richard McCann.

“Big Rich” as he was affectionately referred to by family and friends, as well as the community, loved his family. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, building things, dancing in clown costumes, and on occasions taking a trip to the “river” (Little River Casino), and definitely making jokes. Richard was always willing to lend help to anyone in need. He especially loved his grandbabies and spending time with them.

Richard is one of 11 children. He is survived by: his brother, Jeff (Debbie) McCann; sisters, Sandy Sorenson, Royetta (Norm) Bayle, and Cindy Standoff; children, Alisha (McCann) Anderson, Adam McCann, Mark Anderson, and Randi Flanery; and grandchildren, Grady Anderson, Gretta Anderson, Andrew Flanery, and Gracin McCann.

Richard was preceded in death by: his wife “husbant”, Juanita (Salazar) McCann; and sisters, Sherry (Dean) Waldron, Candy (Cliff) Hicks, Shelly (Carl) Burns, Christy Jiminez, and Penny Davila.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Harris Funeral Home, 267 North Michigan Avenue, Shelby, MI 49455, with interment to follow in Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Harris Funeral Home and Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
