Philip E. Flater, age 70, of Hesperia, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at home. He was born June 27, 1950 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Hiram and Charlotte (Berends) Flater.
Philip lived in Hastings, Fremont and Manistee before moving to Muskegon at the age of thirteen. He lived in Muskegon until moving to Hesperia forty-eight years ago. He married Joan (Hebestreit) on September 20, 1969.
Philip was U. S. Army Vietnam veteran. He was employed at CWC in Muskegon for eighteen years before working at Whitehall Products for twenty-four years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Hiram (Melissa) Flater, Philip (Jennifer) Flater, and Jonathan (Jessica) Flater; his grandchildren, twins, Halie and Payton Flater, Cayla Flater, Cameron Flater, Ellie Gibson, Jack Gibson, Charlotte Flater and Everly Flater; brothers, James (Jude) Flater and Roger Flater; sisters, Zona (Fred) Pfenning, Sr. and Lois Flater; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Theodore Flater.
