Nancy Ann Stanek, 69, from Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. She was born December 10, 1954, in Detroit, the daughter of Leon and Stella (Opathiewicz) Stanek. 

Nancy graduated from Redford High School in 1972. After graduation Nancy took classes at Wayne State University for the food and beverage industry. She became the Food and Beverage Director at the Westin Hotel in the Renaissance Center, downtown Detroit. After her 20 years, she made the decision to move to Shelby, MI to raise her son Ryan. Nancy loved to bake and would have loafs of blueberry banana bread waiting for Ryan when he would come home to visit.  Nancy’s generosity was a gift to all those around her. From holiday goodies for neighbors and family, to planning the baby shower for her first grandchild that she was so unbelievably excited to meet. She loved to travel and spend time with her life partner George and their two dogs Freckles and Seger. 

Nancy is survived by: her son, Ryan (Angela) Stanek; granddaughter, Stella Stanek; Life partner, George Taylor; her nephews, Leon Stanek Jr., Scot (Candy) Stanek, and Kimberly Stanek; her great nieces, LeAnna Stanek, Kayla Stanek, and Paige (Zachary) Olinzock, great nephew, Kyle (Meradith) Stanek.
 
Nancy was preceded in death by: her parents, Leon and Stella; and her brother, Leon Stanek.

Per Nancy’s request, cremation has taken place, services are to be scheduled at a later date.
