Mildred "Millie" Anna Johnson was born October 29, 1930, to Delos and Pearl (McCarty) Thaler in Hart, Michigan. She married Robert (Bob) Johnson on February 12, 1949. They were married for 65 years, and they lived and raised their four children in Shelby. On March 13, 2022, Millie passed peacefully away at the age of 91.
Millie was a sweetheart with a kind and quiet nature and a wonderful sense of humor. She always had food ready for our visits, asking as soon as we came in the door, "Are you hungry?" We will never eat her specialty, scalloped potatoes, without thinking how much better hers was!
One of the pastimes she enjoyed most were the many games of Skip Bo with various family members over the years along with a little glass of Manischewitz. For the last six years, Millie was a resident of the Oceana County Medical Care Facility where she was introduced to many new activities. Her uncanny ability to win at Bingo there will have to remain a mystery.
Millie is survived by her children; Debby (Tom) Kicas, Barb Johnson (Larry Hetland), Bob (Char) Johnson and Bill Johnson; sister, Brenda (Freeman) Savage and brother, Joe Thaler (Lois Aguirre); grandchildren, Chris (Colby) Martin, Hayley Schultz (Walid Loutfi), Lindsey (Arthur) Guimond, Jennifer (Brandon) Lanterman, Kristina Carr, and Anna Kicas (Shaizad Mohammad); great-grandchildren; Phoenix Brush, Ally Guajardo, Britt and TJ Carr, Caden and Addison Martin, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband Bob, brothers; Robert, Don (Sparky), and David Thaler; sisters, Ora Osborne and Jewel Wieber.
We owe a debt of gratitude to many OCMCF staff members who truly cared for Mom and helped us through this difficult time. Thank you.
There is always a list of items needed in the recreation department if you would like to do something in Millie's memory. She leaves behind many wonderful friends there who would benefit.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial gathering will take place later this spring.
The Harris Funeral Home of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
