Matthew Hren, 80, of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. He was born April 18, 1942, in Otto Township, the son of Anton and Blanch (Pranger) Hren.
Matt attended Maple Range School and graduated from Shelby High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1968, as a jet engine mechanic, and spent six months in Okinawa, Japan. Later on, he was a truck driver at Herin Brothers Inc. for many years and also several other trucking companies.
Matt enjoyed being with his family and friends. He liked talking and getting to know people. Matt was an avid reader and had quite the collection of books. When he visited his daughter and grandkids, he always brought them a jar of local raw honey, which is a nice memory for them.
Matt is survived by: daughter, Melissa Russell; grandchildren, Paisley Grace and Gatlin Matthew Russell; sisters, Patricia (Allen) Miller, Darlene Hren, and Jean Zaverl; brothers, Richard Hren, Douglas Hren, and Arthur Hren, sister-in-law, Attilla Hren; and many nieces and nephews.
Matt was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Tony Hren, John Hren, and Thomas Hren; sisters, Helen Hren and Loretta Bantien.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the West Hesperia Cemetery, 8613 Loop Road. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Hall 4075 S. 198th Avenue, Hesperia, Michigan 49421.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
