Martin Hiram Tufts, 62, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was born August 21, 1962, in Renton, Washington, the son of Hiram and Patricia (Manning) Tufts. In keeping with Martin's wishes, cremation has taken place.
 

Martin loved life! He made friends with almost everyone he met and he did his best to keep in touch with every single one of them. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, working on anything with a motor and spending time with his friends and family. He had such a great sense of humor (yea baby!) and loved learning and sharing his knowledge. He spent three years in the Army stationed in Hawaii, which was a drastic change from the cold, snowy Michigan winters. During those three years he traveled to Korea several times to practice "war games". 

He had the best stories from his many adventures - from hitchhiking across the country and meeting his guardian angel, to performing CPR on a coworker, while at work, and saving that man's life. 
 
Martin is survived by: his wife of almost 20 years, Leandra (Jordan); children, Alex (Kirbie) Gramza of Greenviile, MI and Hannah (Sarah) Gramza-Howard of Rockford, MI; siblings, William Tufts of Ferry, Tom (Kaye) Tufts of Alpena, Dan (Wendy) Tufts of Montague, Victor (Debbie) Tufts of Palmetto, Florida, Matthew (Lisa) Tufts of Fruitport, John Tufts of Newaygo, Teresa Grey and Ruth Ann Tufts. He has 26 nieces and nephews. 
 
Martin was preceded in death by: his parents, Hiram and Patricia; brothers, James, Richard, Father Donn; sister, Doreen Tufts (at birth).

A celebration of Martin’s life will be held from 1 pm until 4 pm, Friday, March 7, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 North Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan, 49455.
