Mrs. Lois Estena Bush, 82, of New Era, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born April 27, 1940, in Shelby, Michigan, the daughter of Clinton and Lida (Knapp) Shaffer.

Lois married James Bush of New Era, Michigan on September 25, 1959.  As one, they built a life, a farm and raised their children with love and prayers.  Lois was a true Prayer Warrior, praying without ceasing for her family and anyone who needed it.  Lois was also a true help mate to her husband on the Farm as she drove tractors and trucks, picked asparagus, kept the books, and maintained meticulous journals of everything that happened on the farm.  She also built a successful apple market where she was fondly known as “the Apple Lady.” She will be most remembered by her family for her many prayers and unconditional love.

Lois is survived by: her children, Debra (Andrew) Wittenberg, Robert (Sharon) Bush, Bennet (Heather) Bush, and Julie (Phillip) Jasheway; grandchildren, James (Danielle) Bush, David (Kristen) Bush, Stefanie (Grant) Zylstra, Jacob Bush, Duffy Suseland, Theresa Flint, Brett (Kayla) Suseland, Alexandra Suseland, Shelby Suseland, Jayci Suseland, Landry Suseland, Stephen Bush, Matthew Bush, Emily Bush, Anthony Jasheway, Jenna Jasheway, Samantha Jasheway; great grandchildren, Emma, Meliah, Mason and Dylan Bush, Lucas, Landon and Levi Bush, Tessa and Holly Zylstra, Shey, Kolby and Lane Dourte; brother, George (MaryLou) Shaffer.

Lois was preceded in death by: her husband, James; sisters, Eva Jordan, Leora (Ronald) Gray, Mildred (Richard) Backa; brothers, Maurice (Dorothyea) Shaffer, Darrel (Ruby) Shaffer, Lester (Beverly) Shaffer; grandsons, Todd Suseland and Andrew Jasheway.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Friday, October 21, 2022, at New Era Christian Reformed Church, 1820 Ray Street, New Era, Michigan 49446, with Reverend John Medendorp officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm, Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455, and from 10 am until 11 am Friday, October 20, 2022, at the New Era Christian Reformed Church.  Interment will follow in the New Era Cemetery, 1863 Oak Avenue, New Era, Michigan 49446.
