Laura Marie (Ables) Beyer, of Shelby, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2020 in the loving care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Lloyd Ables, Marie Scharp, stepfather, Victor Scharp and stepbrother, Burnell Scharp.
Laura married Bob Beyer on October 10, 1954 and helped on the family farm. She also pursued a career with Shelby State Bank, retiring as Vice President in 2000. She was an active member of Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ, Great Lakes Energy People Fund, and volunteered at the Ladder as well as assisting friends and neighbors.
Laura also served with many local organizations. Laura enjoyed dancing, playing softball, bowling and spending as much time as possible with her grands and greats who were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Timothy) Tullar; son, Michael (Sandra) Beyer; grandchildren, Katey Woodlock, Michael Woodlock, Kolynne (Quinton) Mosley, Robert Anderson, Craig Anderson, Adam Beyer, and Amy (Derek) Sly; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Bayleigh, Maddox, Quinlynn, Braxton, Bentley, Jenson, Ava, and Brennen; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 16th, 3 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Please bring a lawn chair. Please consider either the Ladder Community Center, 67 N. State Street, Shelby, MI 49455 or Harbor Hospice, 1050 W. Western Avenue, Suite 400, Muskegon, MI 49441 as a memorial. There will also be a celebration of life to be announced in the spring of 2021.
