Joyce E. (Burmeister) Kotzian

Joyce E. Kotzian, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 following a fourteen year battle with cancer.  Joyce was born December 10, 1943, the daughter of Theron and Dorothy (Rabe) Burmeister.  She married William Kotzian on February 23, 1963. 

Joyce was a life resident of the Shelby and Benona area.  She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hart.  She enjoyed family, travel, boating, big game hunting trips to Africa, going to Drummond Island and her dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Becky (Mike) Usiak and Brett (Becky) Kotzian; her grandchildren, Ryan Usiak, Katie (Ryan) Hillman, Olivia (Travis) Mitteer and Logan (Mandi) Kotzian; great-granddaughters, Lilly Hillman and Stella Mitteer; and three more great-grandchildren on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Kyle Usiak; and her stepmother, Phyllis Burmeister.   

Visitation is Saturday, June 9th, 1 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2087 N. Water Road in Hart.  A luncheon will follow the service.  Please consider the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, 129 Jefferson, S.E. Grand Rapids, MI  49503 as a memorial.
