Joyce (Friday) Griffin

Joyce Griffin, age 93, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018.  She was born December 4, 1925 in Montague, the daughter of Earl C. "Bud" Friday and Esther Friday.

Joyce attended Montague High School and Hackley School of Nursing.  She married Bill Griffin in 1947.  She worked at Hart and Shelby Hospitals and later at the Shelby Department Store.  She had been the treasurer of Piper School, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Oceana County Goodfellows and the Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ and its various organizations.

Joyce was a seamstress and loved playing cards and being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Surviving are her children, Sandy Griffin, Gloria (Dana) Brischke, Alan (Becky) Griffin and Paul (Kim) Griffin; her grandchildren, Kelly (William) Martindale, Chris Griffin, Todd (Kate) Griffin, Ryan (Megan) Griffin, Cory (and fiancé, Valerie) Griffin and Kacy (Trevor) Soole; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Wilkins, Brooks, Graham,  Elise and Andrew Griffin;  her brother, Wayne (Betty) Friday; sisters, Carol Royalty and Laura Miller; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, and her sister, Margaret Tabor.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13th from 11 am until the funeral service at Twelve Noon all at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ.  In lieu of flowers please consider the Shelby Congregational Women's Fellowship, 51 E. Third Street, Shelby, MI 49455 or the Crystal Valley Care Fund, P.O. Box 451 Hart, MI 49420 as  a memorial.
