Jean Naramore Obituary

Jean Ann (Wilson) Naramore, 75, passed away March 4 at the Poppen Residence Hospice in Muskegon surrounded by her husband and children after a sudden and unexpected illness. Jean was born April 23, 1946 and raised in Shelby, Michigan.

She was an active member of the Shelby community in both the Shelby United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Jean graduated from Western Michigan University in 1968, met her husband Larry in 1969 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Prior to raising three children in Georgetown, KY, Brentwood, TN, Dansville, MI and Spring Lake, MI, Jean taught High school Phys Ed, English and Theatre in Battle Creek & Shelby, MI and Atlanta, GA. Jean remained a vocal supporter of public education and began an empty-nest career in educational professional development and Career Technical Education at Ottawa County ISD and Muskegon County ISD, where she retired in 2009. Jean cultivated a wide social circle in every community she called home, and many will miss her irreverent sense of humor, her zest for life, her pride of community and her passion for family, especially for her five beloved grandchildren.

Preceding her in passing are her parents Harold O. and Ina L. (Morse) Wilson of Shelby, and brother Harold G. “Buzz” Wilson of Northport, MI.

Missing her the most are husband Lawrence J. Naramore of Norton Shores; children Mikael L. Naramore (Leslie, Atticus, Quintus) of White Salmon, WA; Joshua L. (Kati & Hazele) of Grand Rapids; Emily J. Beresford (Inabelle, Arlo) of Norton Shores; brother Chuck Wilson and his family, and sister Emma Wilson and her family.

In leu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Muskegon Rescue Mission, 2735 E Apple Ave, Ste D, Muskegon, MI  49441.

Cremation has taken place. Per her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held (place and time TBD) in lieu of a funeral.
