James Martin Danes

James Martin Danes, 70, of Shelby passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 5, 2022.  James was born on February 1, 1952, in Big Rapids, to the late Milo and Marjorie Danes.  Jim was an avid gardener and canned many of his own fruits and vegetables.  Jim had many hobbies including horseshoes, hunting, and fishing.  Jim retired from the Laborers’ Union. 

He is survived by a son, Trever (Becky) Danes and their sons Hunter and Landon, and a son Jimmy (Molly) Danes.  He is also survived by sisters; Fran Eitnier, Sue Baxter, Valerie Campbell, brother Dale (Julie) Danes, and numerous half brothers and sisters.  

At Jim’s request, there will not be a funeral, however, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to Crystal Valley Care Fund, P.O. Box 451, Hart, MI  49420.  The family is being cared for by Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.
