Helen May Kuntz, 91, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Christian Care Assisted Living in Muskegon. She was born December 1, 1929, in Hart, the daughter of Carl and Edna (Robbins) Schoenberg.
Helen worked as a cook for the Shelby School System for many years, and was an Avon Lady for over 20 years. Helen was a very active member of the Shelby United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, served on several committees, and organized and worked on countless luncheons. Helen had been a girl scout leader and a cub scout leader when her children were younger. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed spending time with friends, reading, gardening and canning.
Helen is survived by: her children, Karen (Wayne) Thompson of Norton Shores, George L. Kuntz of Muskegon, and Jim Kuntz of Plymouth; her sister, Katie Naghtin of Montague; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Schoenberg of Gilbert, Arizona.
On September 25, 1950, Helen married George A. Kuntz, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Schoenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Shelby United Methodist Church with Pastor Anne Riegler officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
