Gladys Berry Bogard, age 90, of Spring Lake passed away August 16, 2021 at Hospice Residence at Heartwood Lodge. Gladys was born August 13, 1931 to William and Gladys Ostermann in Base Line, Michigan. Gladys married Frank Bogard on May 15, 1953 in Grosse Pointe. He passed away July 15, 1988.
She grew up in Grosse Pointe and graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School. She worked for Peoples Community Hospital as a secretary and retired in 1984. She moved from Allen Park to Stony Lake in 1988 following the death of her husband. She moved to Spring Lake in 2000 and lived in Liberty Woods Senior Housing before moving to a condo in 2003. She served on the Hidden Dunes Condo Association Board from 2001-2013 and held the positions of vice-president and president.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Claudia Bowers (Pete); sons, Mark Bogard (Anne) and Jason Bogard (Laura); grandchildren, Adam Bowers, Kara Bogard, Cameron Bogard, Jordan Bogard and Eric Bowers; nephews, Jim Boria and Bill Boria (Victoria); grandniece, Jessica Boria (Karl); great-grandnieces, Sophia and Addie; great-grandnephews, Titus and Gus. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty May Boria, her sister's husband, Jim Boria, and her nephew, Bob Boria.
Gladys enjoyed crafting and making custom photo albums, Easter eggs and other items which she sold at craft shows. She also enjoyed porcelain doll making, ceramics, oil painting and stained glass.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 11th, 2 pm at Benona Township Cemetery 7410 West Johnson Road, Shelby.
