Gail Norrine Irey, 85, of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at home. Gail was born August 16, 1938, in Shelby, to Norman and Ardath (Dukes) Isley.

Gail lived her entire life in Oceana County, mostly in Blooming Valley, east of Shelby. Gail graduated with Shelby's class of 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Irey. Rich and Gail were devoted to each other. They were married for 63 years before RIch's death in 2020. They raised their 5 children in Blooming Valley until the 1980's, when they moved to Hesperia. 

Gail worked over 30 years at Howmet Corp. in Whitehall, in the finishing department until she retired. She kept herself busy staying social, being crafty, witty and saucy.

Gail is survived by: her children, Scott (Ona) Irey, Sue (Chuck) Hook, Michael (Marilyn) Irey, Barb (Jim) Girard, Connie (Mark) Gorton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and her 4 sisters-in-law.
 
Gail was preceded in death by: her husband Rich; her parents Normand and Ardath; sisters, Nedra (Charlie) Herraygers and Brenda Kieft.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455, with Pastor Beverly Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of services Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the service at Mt Hope Cemetery, Shelby Michigan. A luncheon is offered at the Methodist Church in Shelby following interment.
