Faye Louise (Clouse) Mobley Obituary

Faye Louise Mobley, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1937, in Petoskey, Michigan, to Benjamin and Lula (Brown) Clouse.

Faye graduated from Fennville High School in 1955 and married the love of her life, Earl Mobley, on October 12, 1956, in Ganges, Michigan. In 1963, they settled in Shelby, where they built a loving home and raised their four children together.

Faye was known for her tireless work ethic and spent much of her career in the food processing industry, including over 20 years at Oceana Canning Company. She believed in staying busy and poured that same dedication into her role as a mother. She was a constant presence in her children’s lives—leading scout troops, chaperoning school field trips, and always lending a hand wherever it was needed.

Family meant everything to Faye, and vacations were a beloved tradition. Summers were often spent visiting loved ones in Petoskey, while winter breaks brought road trips down south to see in-laws. Her passion for travel and meeting new people continued throughout her life. In her later years, she found great joy in the friendships formed at the senior center and never missed a chance to hop on a group outing or bus trip.

Faye was a lifelong member of the Rebekah Lodge, dedicating 70 years to the organization and serving in numerous leadership roles, including Noble Grand. Her faith was equally important to her, and she was a devoted member of the Shelby United Methodist Church, where she found both spiritual strength and a deep sense of community.

Faye will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, and her unwavering commitment to others. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, service, and strength lives on in all who knew her.

Faye is survived by: her children, Scott (Pam) Mobley, Richard (barb VanBogelen) Mobley, James (Lori) Mobley, and Marlene (Charles) Prowant; grandchildren, Cheyanne (Jamie) Purk, Noelle (Paul) Merten, Steven Mobley, Kelcy (Erik) Smith, Kristin (Lee) Winter, Tarra (David) Smith and Kara Knowles; step-grandchildren, David VanBogelen, Amanda VanBogelen, Jordon VanBogelen, Kathy Ann (Mario Vargas) Prowant, Jason (Maria) Prowant, Justin Prowant and twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Faye was preceded in death by: her Parents, Benjamin and Lula (Brown) Clouse; husband, Earl Mobley; and siblings, Eugene Clouse and Anne Dugan.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oceana County Council on Aging, 4250 W. Tyler Rd. Hart, MI 49420, a program which kept Faye lively and social these last few years.
