Ellen E. Hardy, age 93, of Hart, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Hart. Ellen was born April 1, 1928 in Cedar Springs to Guy and Avolina (Beyer) Fairbrother. She was raised in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School.
She married Steven Hren who preceded her in death. Ellen married A. Stewart Hardy later and moved to Hart. Stew also preceded her in death. She had been employed as the office manager at Young Metal Products/Shelby Culvert Company. Ellen drove the bus for the Oceana Intermediate School District for many years before her retirement. She was a long-time member of Shelby Wesleyan Church and the Michigan Association for Retired School Personnel.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Hren, stepsons, Bruce (Jennifer) Hardy, Craig (Sarah) Hardy, and David (Lolita) Hardy; her sister, Mary Maxine Whittum; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and long-time friend, Linda VanZoeren.
Besides her husbands, and her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Blohm, infant son, Donald Hren, stepson, Mark Hardy, adopted son, LeRoy Richardson, her brother, Richard Fairbrother, and her sister, Jennie Sanford Dekker.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 24th, 2:00 pm until the service at 3:00 pm at Shelby Wesleyan Church. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Marjorie Blohm Nursing Scholarship.
