Graveside services for Elaine J. Tietz, age 80, of Rothbury, will be held Saturday, April 23rd, 11 am at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shelby with Pastor Mark Baker officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at Deb's Restaurant in downtown Shelby. Mrs. Tietz passed away Sunday January 9, 2022. She was born December 20, 1941 in Shelby to Oscar and Martha (Brychel) Blohm. Elaine graduated from Shelby High School and lived in Oceana County all her life. She married Donald E. Tietz on September 2, 1961. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2007.
Elaine had been raised on a farm and continued living on a farm with Don upon their marriage as they grew crops and had cattle for many years. She was also employed at Howmet Corporation for eighteen years before her retirement.
Elaine is survived by her children, Norman (Shelley) Tietz and Julie Tietz; daughter-in-law, Sandra Tietz; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, David Tietz, brothers, Ernest and Paul Blohm and sisters, Ellen Zimmerman and Loueen Rudat.
Visitation is Saturday, January 15th from 1-3 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shelby on Saturday, April 23rd at 11 am. The family perfectly understands if you are hesitant to attend her visitation during this time of elevated Covid numbers and want to also extend the invitation for you to attend the graveside service in the spring.
