Elaine Lucile Johnson, 94, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was born February 27, 1931 in Hesperia, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Borst) Morse.

Elaine graduated from Hesperia High School in 1949 and married Bernard Johnson on July 15, 1950.  Together they built a loving family including Jerry, Eilene, Calvin, and their twin daughters who died shortly after birth, Tammy Jo and Teresa Jo Johnson. 

Family was the heart of Elaine’s life.  She especially cherished time spent playing cards, sharing a good meal, and telling stories with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She was known for her caring nature, loving spirit, and trust in God.   She enjoyed camping trips, traveling adventures with her husband, children, and friends, and relaxed days fishing before and after retiring from Howmet Corporation in Whitehall, MI

Elaine is survived by: her children, Gerald (Mary) Johnson, Eilene (Ron) Cober and Calvin (Carrie) Johnson; grandchildren, Sharla Jo Meredith, Jerod (Emily) Johnson, Megan (Brett) Atchison, Lindsay (Ryan) Kruse, Brett Nicole (Thomas) Guarino, Audrey (Xavier) Greenfield, Shanna Johnson, Marielle (Bryce) Boverhof; great-grandchildren, Abigail Meredith, Daveigh Jo Meredith, Alyssa (Daniel) Lipka, Brionna Johnson, Jaden Johnson, Colt Atchison, Matthew Kruse, Calvin Guarino, Dominic Guarino, Freya Guarino, Jonah Grace Greenfield, Gabriel Greenfield and Silas Greenfield.

Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents, Edward and Ethel Morse; husband, Bernard Johnson; sisters, Margaret (Lionel) O’Neill, Catherine Morse, twin daughters Tammy Jo and Teresa Jo Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at New Era Bible Church, 5308 S. Oceana Drive, New Era, Michigan, 49446, with pastor Mike Deblois officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455, and again Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
