Doris B. Reames, age 95, of Shelby, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021. Doris was born February 25, 1926 in Shelby to Oscar and Jennie (Porter) Mauk.
She was raised in Benona Township and married Calvin “Cabbie” Reames on April 21, 1946. They lived in Benona and operated a fruit farm for many years before retiring and moving into Shelby. They wintered in Florida for over twenty years. Cabbie passed away on February 7, 2020.
Doris had worked at Shelby State Bank and served as the Benona Township Treasurer for many years. She was a member of Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed local sports as well as following the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Pistons. She also enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Blohm; her grandchildren, Eric (Trisha) Allen, Greg (Rachel) Allen, Chad (Breanne) Blohm, Tyler (Karissa) Blohm and Madison Reames; great-grandchildren, Nathan Allen, Grace Allen, Gavin Daugherty, Callie Blohm, Noa Blohm, Kinsley Blohm and Emmersyn Blohm
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin, her daughter, Linda Allen, son, Brian Reames, grandson, Caleb Reames, great-grandson, Trevor Allen, great-granddaughter, Jaycie Blohm, brother, Donald Mauk, and sister, Bernice Babcock.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 9th from 5-7 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 10th, 1 pm followed by a luncheon at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ. Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda will officiate. Interment will follow the luncheon at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials to Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ, 51 E.
