Donald King Obituary

Donald G. King, age 92 of Montague, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at home.  The son of Ethel and Harry King, he was born on July 31, 1928 in Flint, Michigan.  He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a degree in civil engineering.

Donald married Gloria M. Hoag on June 9, 1951.  They settled in Montague where Donald worked for DuPont, Bofors Lakeway, and Soils & Structures, and Gloria was a librarian at the Montague Public Library.  They raised five children and enjoyed many years of camping, boating and skiing.  Donald was an artist and his oil and watercolor paintings hang on nearly every wall of their home, with his model ships lining the fireplace mantle.  He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.  His quick wit brought much laughter to the family, friends and neighbors he loved so well, and he will be dearly missed by all.

Donald is survived by his wife, Gloria M. King; his children, Christine (Allan) Moore of Clarkston MI, Jeffrey (Jolene) King of Montague, Laurie (Robert) Fulljames of Rothbury, James King (Ed Ziomkoski) of Hersey MI, Jennifer (Mark) Erickson of Lawrenceburg IN.  He had 13 grandchildren:  Marcus (Mandy) Moore, Rebecca (Al) Buikema, Michael Moore, Christopher (Lianne) Moore, Jason (Jessica) King, Julianna (Brian) Grabenstetter, Jordan (Anna) King, Jentry (Kyle) Willacker, Justin King, Jessica (Tim) Hunt, Julie (DJ) Uithoven, Christian (KaTrena) Fulljames and Riley Erickson.  He had 16 great-grandchildren.  Donald was preceded in death by infant son Michael Donald, his parents, his brother Robert King and his sister Yvonne King.

A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
