Daniel Laverne Dawson "Grumpy", age 77, of Ferry, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 in Muskegon. He was born February 17, 1944 in Oceana County to Chester Dan Dawson and Imogene (Holcomb) Dawson. He lived most of his life in Ferry.
He retired from Bennett Pump and worked part-time at the Oceana County Transfer Station. He was a long-time member of the Ferry Township Fire Department and also served on the Fire Auxiliary.
He enjoyed working in the woods with his brother, David, fishing with his family and friends and in his spare time enjoyed small engine repair and garden tractor pulling at Ferry Ghost Town Day.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Baxter) Dawson; his daughter, Bobby-Jo (Rod) Studer; grandchildren, Samantha Baxter, Joseph Anastasiades, Anthony Baxter, Joshua Anastasiades and Justin Studer; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Baxter, Raylee Anastasiades and Elijah Anastasiades; great-great-grandson, Jace Baxter; sisters, Ruth Cory, Norma Demaray, Sylvia Frederick and Lydia Bair; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Monroe) Dawson; stepchildren, Dondee Baxter and Arthur Baxter and siblings, Faith Goss, Lulu Price, David Dawson, Judy Dawson and Janie Weger.
Interment will be in South Ferry Cemetery. There will be no services.
