Consepcion "Connie" (Fuentes) Leiter

Consepcion “Connie” Leiter passed away Monday July 6, 2020 in Baldwin.  She was born December 8, 1939 in Mercedes, Texas.  She was raised and made her roots in Hart after her family migrated from Mercedes, Texas to Owosso, Michigan, finally settling in the Hart area.

She had two sons, Israel and Edward Fuentes prior to meeting her first husband, Amadeo R. Trevino.  They had seven children, Amadeo Daniel Trevino, Antonia Toy Trevino, Alfred Trevino, Arthur P. Trevino, Darlene Trevino, Joe Trevino and Theodore “Ted” Trevino.

After divorcing, she later met and married Larry Leiter who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward J. Fuentes; granddaughter, Felicia Trevino; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Fuentes; sisters, Ofelia Villarael, Adela Sereseroz, Delores “Lola” Fuentes and Minerva Solice; and brothers, Alex “Alejandro” Fuentes and Manuel Fuentes.

Connie is survived by her sister, Trinidad and Rueben Garza of McAllen, TX; brother, George and Sigrid Fuentes of Rothbury; children, Amadeo Daniel Trevino/Angel Sherwood of Austin, TX, Antonia Trevino of Austin, TX, Alfred and Julie Trevino of Rothbury, Darlene Trevino/Alex Tristan of Austin, TX, Arthur and Christine Trevino of Shelby, Joe Trevino of Lake Tahoe, MI, Theodore “Ted” Trevino of Austin, TX and Israel J. Fuentes of Luther, MI; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Connie will be remembered as a strong-willed woman who was full of life.  She danced, loved music and dressing up, wore lipstick and fancy caps.  Her hobbies were crocheting, dancing and cooking.  She had a strong devotion to the Lord and read her Bible and said prayers nightly.

Special thanks to Grand Oaks Nursing Center for the care and love given. Visitation is Friday, July 10th from 4-7 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.  The Funeral Mass for Connie will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11th, 1 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Weare. Due to the COVID restrictions, physical distancing will be practiced at the visitation and funeral.  Face masks are strongly encouraged.
