Clyde Harvey Hendrick, age 63, of Walkerville, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at his home. Clyde was born on July 10, 1961 in Muskegon, to John Louis and Bonnie Dawn (Kayler) Hendrick. Clyde married his childhood sweetheart, Vickey Corrine (White) Hendrick in Hart, Michigan on September 15, 1979.
Clyde began working at Gray & Company in Hart in 1982, marking his 42nd anniversary with the company this past July. Through his hard work and dedication, Clyde worked his way up to his current title of Maintenance Manager. Clyde was a loyal and dedicated employee throughout the years, heading up many projects and transitions from the purchase in 1992, and later sale in 2005, of the Queen Anne line of chocolate covered cherries to the company being purchased by Seneca Foods in 2015. Clyde took much pride in working at Gray, the official home of CherryMan, where he made many close relationships with what he considered his second family. His loss will impact his whole work family.
Clyde’s was the ultimate outdoor enthusiast stemming for his love of nature and his hobbies were wide-ranging. He was an avid camper and enjoyed hunting, fishing, walks on the beach, sunsets, gardening, and canning. He was the ultimate Grill Master, baker and cook, making the best family recipes such as his famous peanut butter fudge. Clyde was also very creative and had a flare for tinkering. He had a natural talent for engineering and his skills were well-known and he took great pride in any project he undertook from woodworking to mechanical. Clyde also enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiles, boating, photography, family history, genealogy but most especially for spending time with his family and friends.
He deeply cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren, with whom he loved to share his passions and knowledge. His presence brought warmth and joy to his family and friends, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him. He will always be remembered as a wonderful father, loving husband, amazing grandpa, strong leader and dear friend to many. Clyde will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Clyde is survived by: his loving wife of 45 years, Vickey; children, Jason Hendrick of Walkerville, Tami Hendrick (Jeremy King) of Whitehall. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kelsi King, Caydence King, Jeremy King II, Devon and Yasmine Hendrick, as well as his great-grandchild Oaklyn Brown. He also leaves behind his brothers, Donald (Sylvia) Hendrick and Douglas (Nicole) Hendrick, his sisters Vicki Rodabaugh and Lori (Mark) Weybright, along with many nieces and nephews.
Clyde was preceded in death by: his parents, Bonnie (Kayler) Bromley, John Hendrick; brother, John Hendrick; three stepbrothers, Robert (Bob) Hendrick, Bill (Bones) Marcum and Rex Marcum.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm, Friday, September 20, 2024, at Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel,2370 N. 72nd Avenue, Hart, Michigan, 49420, with Pastor Benjamin Garcia officiating. Visitation will be held from 1pm until 3pm, Friday, September 20, 2024, at the funeral home.
