Christian Lee Huls, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on July 30th, 2024. Born in Shelby MI to Wesley and Vera Huls. He passed away at his home in Coupeville, WA.
He loved the outdoors, camping, and exploring the mountains and beaches. He enjoyed wood carving, wood working, and being able to build anything that he dreamed up or someone else did. As a young man he enjoyed photography, a good ripe peach and the companionship of his faithful hound “Skynyrd”. He grew up on a small farm in Shelby MI and headed to California after high school. He got his builders license and started in the construction business. He traveled with a work buddy to Oak Harbor WA and decided to stay. He soon started Huls Construction and did work all over the island making friends wherever he worked. He made many trips back to Michigan, but the Island was home. He was the type of guy that if he considered you his friend it was for life. He was known to be a big tease and loved to terrorize his nieces and nephews who all loved him.
He is survived by his mother Vera Huls, Brothers Victor (JoAnn) and Gary (Mary) Huls, and sister Lori (Darrell) Hogston and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Wesley Huls.
A celebration of life will be from 2 pm until 3 pm Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455. Meet and share stories with the family, a service to follow at 3pm.
