Carol Arlene Inglis

Mrs. Carol Arlene Inglis, age 93, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born February 5, 1929, in Shelby, the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Ward) Wyns. Carol married William Inglis on December 6, 1947 in Shelby. They had 65 wonderful years together before William passed.

The roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother were Carol’s dearest but not the only at which she excelled. Moving up the ladder at Shelby State Bank from teller to the first female Vice President was the career of a pioneer. When she moved on to retirement her quilts were masterpieces with hand stitching more precise than any modern machine. If you tried keeping up with her on the golf course you know she got not one, but two hole in ones. She was too humble to admit it but she could dust the lanes with any bowler in Shelby and if you sat at the card table with her you would know it wasn’t just Bill who was a shark. Carol spent her entire life in Shelby being an example of how to work hard and play hard and we are so grateful it was, in her own words, such a “long and happy life.”

Carol is survived by her children; David (Pat) Inglis, Tom (Patti) Inglis, Betty (Scott) Poort; 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Sandra (Lee) Dean, Leta "Petie" Mitteer; sister-in-law Pat Wyns;  and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded is death by; her parents; her husband; brothers, Sam, Gord, Barney, Bob and Steve Wyns; sisters, Phyllis Griffin and Marilyn Cornett; daughter, Kathleen Dodge and son-in-law William Dodge.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby MI 49455, with Pastor Danial Barnum-Steggerda officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the start of the service.
