Carlos Kops Castelo, 51, of Montague, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024. Superman finally met his kryptonite. He was born August 15, 1973, in Chicago, the son of Ernesto and
Donna (Kops) Castelo.
Carlos moved to Michigan to attend high school in Holton. He worked at Aludyne in Montague for over 20 years most recently as a material handler. He spent many years involved with the
Boy Scouts of America both as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. He was very proud of all the boys who were in the Pack and Troop. In fact, the boys gave him the “Superman” nickname. He also
had a great passion for electronics, cooking, and comics. He had the unique ability to make anyone laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Carlos is survived by: his wife Cheryl; sons, Donovan and Quinlan; siblings, Sherry (Jim) Smith, Francisca Castelo, Ernesto Castelo, Elisa Navarro, Ernestina (Saul) Aguayo, Francisco (Maria) Castelo, Leona Castelo; many nieces and nephews; and his "adopted" son, Kain Rosales.
Carlos was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 3000 Winston Road, Rothbury, Michigan, 49452, with Father Peter Omogo presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 2419 West Winston Road, Rothbury, Michigan 49452.
