Arlene J. Eilers, age 88, of Shelby, entered her eternal rest with her Savior, Friday, May 27, 2022. She was born May 24, 1934, in Shelby, the daughter of the late Lester B and Ethel P (McLouth) Clark.
Arlene graduated from Shelby High School. She married the love of her life Paul W Eilers May 23, 1954. Shortly after the birth of the 1st of 5 children she became a military wife supporting her husband’s career while maintaining a spotless home wherever the military sent them. After retiring in Alaska for over twenty years they returned to their roots in Shelby in 2001.
Besides keeping a spotless home, she was ever maintaining a colorful home through her passion for flowers, planted in the yard, hanging around the house or on tables and stands in the house.
Arlene’s faith was demonstrated through her endless gift of service, whether helping with neighborhood vacation Bible schools when her children were young, hosting meals for visiting young servicemen and missionaries, to visiting the aged and homebound in her later years.
Arlene is survived by; her husband of 69 years Paul Eilers; children Elizabeth Ann (Mike) Sarver, Beckley, WV, Paul W (Charlotte) Eilers Jr. Newport News, VA, Scott A (Julie) Eilers Ludington, MI, Robert D Eilers Baldwin, MI; brother Gary (Diane) Clark; sister Mayme (Don) Wyns; sister-in-law Maxine Clark; brother-in-law Tom Eilers; 9 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and special neighbors Philip and Mechele Gonzales.
Arlene was preceded in death by, her son Daniel Eilers, her granddaughter Tay Sarver Key, brothers Arden and Mark Clark.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Shelby Road Baptist Church, 4066 W. Shelby Rd, Shelby, MI 49455, officiated by Pastor Mark Baker. Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, from 5 - 7 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Ave., Shelby, MI 49455, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Arlene’s favorite charity.
