Alexander "Al" Walter Wlodkowski of Twin Lake, Michigan, passed away at the age of 94 on Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born on August 2, 1928, in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, the son of Frank and Stefania (Detkiewicz) Wlodkowski.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force at an early age and proudly served his country as staff sergeant for five years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He was last stationed at a radar base in Waverly, Iowa, where he met his future bride Bonnie Swehla. It was love at first sight and they married on October 25, 1953.
Al and Bonnie lived in Montague, Michigan, before building their home in Twin Lake, Michigan, on acreage right next to the beautiful Little Manistee National Forest where they had many happy years together. Al retired from Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon, Michigan, after working there for 40 years. He had many talents ranging from electronics to cooking and even enjoyed writing poems from time to time. Gardening was a passion of his. He had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables. Al had a very big heart for family, friends and animals.
He was loved by many and is lovingly remembered by his: two daughters; Lori Fisher of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Annette Cassel of Twin Lake, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth Cassel of Twin Lake, Michigan, Adam (Julia Gehring) Cassel of Beulah, Michigan, Christina (Fisher) Davenport of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stefanie (Andrew) Sievers of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ryan Cassel of Twin Lake, Michigan and Joseph (Jessica) Fisher of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 11 great grandchildren; his brother Lorenz (Kay) Wlodkowski of Montague, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his: wife, Bonnie (Swehla) Wlodkowski on December 22, 1991, and grandson baby Fisher on July 3, 1980. He was also preceded in death by his: parents, Frank and Stefania (Detkiewicz) Wlodkowski; brothers, Frank Wlodkowski Jr., Arthur Wlodkowski; sisters, Sarah Grabinski, Jennie Balas and Stella Estes.
Cremation has taken place, a private family ceremony will be held at a later date, Al will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelby, Michigan.
