William "Bill" Robert Airy, 72, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He was born January 6,1949, in Detroit, the son of the late Charles Peter Airy and Emily Mildred Airy. He and his wife moved from Southfield, Michigan, to Benona Township in 1988.

Bill worked for Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, in medical purchasing before going into orthopedic sales. He has served as Benona Township Zoning Administrator since 1996. Bill was also a handyman, described as a 'Jack of All Trades' including an artist, which he studied at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Bill also enjoyed sailing, golfing, classic cars, and he was an avid reader.

Bill is survived by: his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Airy; sister, Suzanne Mueller; nephew, Erik (Emi) Mueller; great-neice and nephew, Kelly and Zack Mueller; 41 other loving nieces and nephews; and many loving and caring friends.

In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in the summer.
