Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Harry Bennett, 81, of Hesperia, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. He was born on April 3, 1944, in Kokomo, Indiana, the beloved son of Harry and Catherine (Wright) Bennett.

Tom lived a life filled with curiosity, movement, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. Together with his wife, Linda, he embraced countless adventures. The two shared a beautiful journey through West Michigan; calling Newaygo, Whitehall, and ultimately Hesperia home, as they searched for the perfect place to plant their roots.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Tom found joy and renewal in nature. Whether he was biking along wooded trails, kayaking quiet waters, skiing fresh snow, camping beneath the stars, or hiking new paths, he felt most at peace outside. His love for the outdoors was more than a hobby; it was a way of life.

Tom was also a proud and devoted member of faith at the Newman Chapel, where he formed meaningful connections and served with sincerity. Professionally, he built a respected career in the aerospace industry, working as a foreman at Howmet in Whitehall until his retirement in 2000. His strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication earned the admiration of colleagues throughout his career.

Above all, Tom will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his gentle nature, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the places he loved the people he cherished, and the many memories he created along the way.

Tom is survived by: his wife, Linda (Bunnell) Bennett; children, Aaron (Michelle) Bennett, Laura (Chris) Liebitz, Dawn (Randy) Ackley, and Scott (Connie) Jarvis; grandchildren, Dennis Samson, Dana Samson, Nikki Martin, Emma Bennett, and Jill Bennett; great-grandchildren, Conner, Lily, Maya, Ellie, Ayla, Lucas, Nova and Ava.

Harris Funeral Home, in Shelby, is in charge of arrangements.
