Theodore G. "Ted, Toole" Zoulek, age 82, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Hart, Michigan following a long illness. Ted was born May 25, 1937 in Shelby to Theodore L. Zoulek and Bernice L. (Gorham) Zoulek.
He was a lifelong resident of Shelby. He will be remembered as a friend to all and will also be fondly remembered for his passion for the Shelby Community. He had a lifelong interest and love of Shelby athletics.
Ted was a member of the Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ, the Shelby Recreation Club and the Shelby Optimist Club. He had also served on the Shelby Village Council and the Mount Hope Cemetery Board. He was an avid woodcarver, especially in retirement. He enjoyed many woodcarving projects that he gave to others. He also enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing.
Ted married Wanda L. Smith on June 22, 1957. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2011. He was employed at Dupont Corporation for twenty-five years, briefly at Oceana Canning Company and later at S.D. Warren in Muskegon until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Rick (Cathy) Zoulek, Renee Hansen and Robin (Mickey) Snider; his grandchildren, Keith Zoulek (and MaryKay), Sarah Wolting (and Mike), Amber Robke (and Jeff), Amanda Zoulek, Seth Snider (and Sarah), Tuesday Tanner (and Robert), Tristin Tanner, Dylan Snider, Jesse Tanner and Jackie Hammerle; sixteen great-grandchildren; and his brother, Tony (Paulette) Zoulek. Besides his wife, Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Ronda Kay Zoulek and his sisters, Bonnie Kroening, Shirley Helmer and Judy Love.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 25th, 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 26th, 11 am at Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Dan Barnum-Steggerda and Pastor Paulette Zoulek officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Ladder Community Center, 67 N. State Street, Shelby, MI 49455 or Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ, 51 E. Third Street, Shelby, MI 49455.
