Russell T. Johnson, age 84, of Montague, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Muskegon.  He was born November 28, 1935 in Muskegon to Lloyd and Adie (Hughey) Johnson.  Russell was raised in Muskegon and lived in the Rothbury-Montague area most of his life with the exception of sixteen years in Florida.

He married Phyllis (Steinman) on January 21, 1955.  She passed away on September 22, 2019.  Russell operated a service station in Muskegon before operating a small engine repair shop in Florida.  He attended Rothbury Community Church.

He is survived by his children, Theresa (Terry) King, Wendy (Dan) Tufts, Jacki (Tommy) Carey, Robin Owens and Sheila Stone; his grandchildren, Russ (Debie) Tufts, Josh (Tara) Tufts,  Amy (Joe) Goodrich, Kristjan (Laurie) Stone, Jonathan Stone, Lisa Rust, Luann Tufts, Eric (Melissa) King, Scott (Tonya) Nottingham, Mark (Lindsey) Nottingham and Amanda (Eric) Deramiah; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, David Johnson; and sister, Pam Johnson.  Besides his wife, Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Wayne Johnson, Bob Johnson, Donna Grodstein, Roger Johnson and Ardie Johnson, his son-in-law, Tom Owens, grandson, Kevin Nottingham and great-great-grandson, Norrin Tufts.
