Obituary

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Ronald W Polacek passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born March 30, 1966,in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was the son of John and Rose (Kocich) Polacek.

Ron grew up as the youngest of five siblings, spending his childhood outdoors until dinner was ready or the streetlights turned on. As a young man, Ron excelled in school with both academic high honors and an exciting athletic career in baseball and football. Ron approached life with curiosity and a knack for figuring things out. Whether at Hilite, where he worked for more than 24 years, or at home. Ron was a natural problem solver whose inventive mind helped bring countless projects to life. He found joy in the outdoors through fishing trips, woodworking, playing horseshoes, watching softball games, and grilling burgers for family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were also the simplest: sitting on the porch, bird watching and listening to the oldies. Ron never lost his love for athletics, from his own playing days to following the teams he loved. He enjoyed bowling league nights, playing ice hockey with coworkers, and cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks.

But his greatest accomplishments were the life he built with the love of his life Jamie, and the family they raised together. More than anything, Ron treasured the time he spent with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. Ron will be remembered for his quick mind, loyal heart, sense of humor, and unwavering love. He will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Jamie (VonThaden); daughter, Megan (Michael) James; grandsons, Thomas and Theodore; siblings, John (Bob) Polacek, Tim Polacek, and Marion (Mark) Isbel.

Ron was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Rose Polacek; sister, Carol (Nick) Mulqueeny; and other beloved family members.
