Robert G. "Bob" McDonnell, age 84, of Hesperia, passed away  Sunday, January 26, 2020 in Grand Rapids.  He was born March 19, 1935 in Muskegon to Frank and Sarah (Ferrel) McDonnell.

Bob was raised near Ferry and married Marlene Anderson on June 1, 1953.  They made their home in Newfield Township for many years.  Bob was employed at Sealed Power in Muskegon for forty years until his retirement.  He had a hobby farm for many years and enjoyed going to plow days with his Belgian work horses.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his son, Bob McDonnell, his daughter, Cathy (Tony) Herin; grandchildren, Bob Douglas, Wesley Douglas, Jessica (Adam) White and  Anthony (Beth) Herin, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Hannah and Brynlee Douglas, Hunter, Gracie and Ava White, Tony and Quin Herin; and three sisters, Beulah Cordle, Sarah Jackson and Irene  Chilcote.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Dean and David McDonnell and several siblings.

Visitation is Friday, January 31st at 1 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby.
