Mr. Robert (Bobby) Dale Grumm, age 83, of Muskegon passed away April 15, 2022. He was born November 29, 1938 in Claybanks Township, the son of Arthur and Evylin (Stembol) Grumm.

Bobby was less than a year old when he lost his father in a fishing accident. He attended the Lutheran School for the Deaf in Detroit from 1942 to 1945.  He was not yet 4 years old when he started school in Detroit.  He graduated from the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint in 1957.  He also attended Gallaudet College in Washington D.C. for one year.  While being deaf can be a restriction to some, it did not hold Bobby back. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school, participating in baseball, basketball, football, track, where he was a pole vaulter. Bobby was class treasurer as a Junior and Senior. As an adult he enjoyed hunting, euchre and bowling.  He was past president of the Grand Rapids Athletic Association for the Deaf (GRAAD) and very active in the Deaf Community.  In 1967, Bobby was one of 133 deaf individuals in the United States, and one of five in Michigan, to receive a pilot's license. He worked on many homes and cabins throughout the Oceana County area. Bobby was a tool and die maker, and CNC machinist in the Grand Haven/Spring Lake area until his retirement in 2003.

Bobby is survived by his children; Ruben Grumm, Dee Dee (David) McKee and Brett Grumm; grandchildren, Ashley Veihl and Randy Veihl; brother, Art (Bev) Grumm.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-son Jeremiah Shonk.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday April 22, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home, 267 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby MI 49455. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM, Thursday April 21, 2022, at the Harris Funeral Home, Shelby, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Flower Creek Cemetery, 8750 S. 44th Avenue, Montague MI 49437.
