Margene "Marge" Sillman, age 81, of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, March 11, 2021.  Marge was born April 23, 1939 in St. Johns, Michigan to Gerhart and Marie (Whitt) Martens.

She was raised in St. Johns and married Keith Sillman on November 23, 1957.  They lived in Fowler before moving to Montague, and eventually settling in New Era.  Keith passed away in 2009. Marge resided in Shelby the past six years.

Marge was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino, reading and puzzles.  She was an avid Detroit Tiger fan, enjoyed golf and following M.S.U. and U. of M.  sports.  Marge loved to go to her grandchildren's activities and supported Shelby High School sports and the marching band.

She is survived by her children Julie (Jerry) Foster, Jenny (John) Cornfield, Mark Sillman, and Mike (Vonda) Sillman; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her brother LeRoy Martens. Besides her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jason Foster, infant sister Joyce, and sister Norma Jolley.

A public visitation will be held Thursday, March 18th, 11 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm at Harris Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Era due to COVID-19 precautions.  Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
