Luvy L. Martinez, age 57, of Hesperia passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 in Grand Rapids.  She was born January 6, 1962 to Guadalupe and Viola (Cantu) Lopez.  She married Alejandro Martinez, Jr. on July 19, 1986 in Shelby.

Luvy was born in Kingsville, Texas and her family moved back and forth between Texas and Michigan many years as migrant farm workers.  She graduated from Shelby High School.   She worked at Thomas Read Elementary as a bilingual classroom assistant and then worked for the State of Michigan as an agricultural employment specialist for approximately 20 years.

Luvy loved to ride motorcycles and boating and she was very dedicated to helping family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Alejandro; siblings, Melida Rangel, Melba (Flavio) Garcia, Aide Benavidez, Oscar Lopez, Norma (Jay) Hernandez, Eddie Lopez, Annabell Lopez, Fernando (Cindy) Lopez and Venessa Lopez; and sister-in-law, Norma Lopez. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Guadalupe Lopez, Jr., Octavio Lopez and an infant sister, Faustina Lopez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 27th, 4-7 pm.  The funeral service will be held Friday, June 28th, 3 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. Interment:  Oak Grove Cemetery in Rothbury.  A luncheon will follow at Rothbury Community Church.
