Louis D. Nichols, age 73, of Shelby, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 in Muskegon. Lou was born October, 30, 1947 in Muskegon to Ladean and Carol (Haga) Nichols. He graduated from Muskegon High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1972.
Lou lived in Muskegon many years before moving to Rothbury for several years. He married Christina "Tina" on July 2, 1994. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2014. They lived in Shelby many years. Lou had worked at Piston Ring in Muskegon, Plumbs and on food trucks at carnivals and fairs before his retirement. He was the driving force behind establishing the horse shoe park in Shelby that was named in his honor and he organized all the tournaments there.
He is survived by his children, John (Denise) Nichols, Amy Nichols and Michele Nichols; his stepchildren, Cindi (John) Zwart, Windi Andrews and Cheyanne Campell; his sister, Caroldean Brocci and her husband, Jerry Koronkiewicz; brothers, Charles Nichols, Ronald (Jeanette) Nichols and Mark (Norma) Nichols; seventeen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Tina, Lou was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law, Gayle Nichols.
A private family gathering will be held for Lou.
