Joyce B.
Vannortwick
July 16, 1928 – October 21, 2021
Joyce B. VanNortwick is now safe in Jesus' loving arms as she passed away at home on October 21, 2021, at the age of 93. The daughter of Clay and Geneva Holmes, she was born July 16, 1928, in Gaylord, Kansas.
Joyce married Donald VanNortwick in 1950, and together they raised three children. Donald built, and for many years co-owned, Crystal Downs Mobile Haven in Whitehall, and Joyce was his assistant manager.
Joyce had fond memories of the ten years she worked at the "brand new" McDonalds in Whitehall, where she was the breakfast trainer and loved working with all the young people.
Joyce was a lifelong member of White Lake Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, worked in AWANA, and in later years organized the senior saints' potlucks and breakfasts. Joyce enjoyed gardening, scrabble, and shuffleboard. She was also an avid quilter, having made a quilt for each grandchild. As a widow, she traveled yearly to Florida where she met and married Jake Rensberger. Sadly, they only shared two years together.
Joyce is survived by: her children, Gary (Pam Richardson) VanNorwick, Jolene (Jeff) King, and Rod VanNortwick; daughter-in-law, Sandra Follett; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason Gronso) VanNortwick, Jason (Jessica) King, Rebecca (David) Steinbrook, Julianna (Brian) Grabenstetter, Jordan (Anna) King, Jentry (Kyle) Willacker, Justin King, and Kaylee (Chris) Lim; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; step-children, Margaret (Devon) Miller, Donald (Rachael) Rensberger, and William Stewart; eight step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Jay (Carol) Holmes; sister, Jean Shade; and sister-in-law, Marylou Holmes.
Joyce was preceded in death by: husbands, Donald (m. 1950-1993) and Jake (m. 2000-2002); brothers, Fred and Wayne; sister, Wanda; and step-daughter, Kathy Stewart.
Memorial services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at White Lake Baptist Church, 5280 Dowling Street, Montague, MI 49437. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services at the church.
