Joseph John Tickle, 83, of Pentwater, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021. He was born May 21, 1937, in Hart, the son of George and Etta (Timmons) Tickle.

Joe graduated from Hart High School and was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He went on to serve the community of Whitehall for 17 years as chief of police, and then retired from Consumers Energy after more than 25 years of employment. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family, especially at their home on the North Branch of the Pentwater River.

On March 31, 1956, Joe married Mary Ann Hughes, and she survives him. He is also survived by: his children, Jeannie Vaillancourt and Joseph James Tickle; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Luttrell, Dr. Katherine (Rev. Derek Stefanovsky) Vaillancourt, Tyra (Raymond) Martinez, and Jacob Vaillancourt; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Lutrell, Rylie Luttrell, Alana Martinez, Gabriella Martinez, Hailey Jo Martinez, and Remington Martinez; sister, Greta (Raymond) McDonald; brothers-in-law, George Kerr, James (Melodie) Hughes, and Michael (Alice) Hughes; and sisters-in-law, Carol Keck and Patricia Todd.

Joe was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Mary Jo Tickle; son-in-law, Jim Vaillancourt; and sister, Georgetta Kerr.

In accordance with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
