Joni Marie Rood, 36, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023. She was born June 19, 1986 in Shelby, the daughter of Sharon Rood.

Joni always had a flare for the dramatic and was a very intelligent, creative person having earned a master's degree in psychology.  She loved children and all animals, especially cats.

Joni is survived by: her mother, Sharon Rood; fiancé, Nick Ozios; siblings, Herald R. Rood Jr., Patty Hern; nieces, Tracy Jobbins, Emily (Justin Willard) Rood, Stephanie (Doug) Whitener; nephews, Zane (Caity) Hern, Zack (Shelby Corliss) Hern, Jared Sigley, Eric (Kasey) Rood; great nieces, Ava Hern, Raven Whitener; great nephew, Douglas Whitener; cousin, Jessica Gowan; best friend Sidney Ibarra and family; and her very special cats, Baby and Jasper.

Memorial services will be conducted at 12 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5631 W. Stony Lake Road, New Era, Michigan 49446, with Pastor Sarah Samuelson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11 am until the time of service, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
